PRE-GAME CEREMONY SEPTEMBER 28, 2005

A day to never forget as the whole family with mom, and the friends that inspired the purchase of the

raffle ticket. Russ Farris and his son Marcus Farris.

In 2003 Marcus was in Children's Memorial Hospital fighting for his life. The out look was grim.

However bringing a little cheer to the family during a very difficult time were a hand full of Cubs Players by

visiting with the  patients. Marcus did not get to meet them, his illness had zapped him of all strength and he laid

asleep in his room. Not to be a total loss the players signed his Cubs Ball Cap and wished his family well.

The reminder if this act of kindness prompted the purchase of the winning raffle ticket to support CUBS CARE.

As Professional Ball players they could have been any where they wanted to, from top name restaurants, to exclusive

night clubs and bars. Instead they chose to cheer up every day people who really needed it.

As you can see Marcus is doing well. (Far right with the ball glove on). His family and his Church were praying non-stop

for his recovery. At one point the Doctors stated it would be nothing short of a miracle IF Marcus recovered.

I guess God had other ideas.
